I’ve always been nervous clipping my dog’s nails. I first tried the dremel, but my dog hates the sound and the feeling of the grinder. It would literally take me an hour to grind down a couple of nails. My dog hates these nail clippers a lot less and I was able to trim all of her nails by myself for the first time (with a lot of coaxing and treats). She’s a big dog (Golden retriever/lab) so it’s a lot easier to do it at home than drag her and my two babies all to the groomer.I also highly advise watching YouTube videos and being super careful if you’re a beginner like me. I think I was more scared than my dog was at cutting the quick, but I’ve been extra cautious and haven’t cut it yet *knocks wood*. These clippers definitely helped by having the safety guard.

Let’s face it; my dogs are jerks (2 out of 3, at least), especially about getting their nails trimmed. I never wanted to deal with it, so I paid to have them done, but then I got tired of paying for it and here we are. I already had clippers, but the nail never trimmed cleanly and I realized by comparisthat they were terrible (not sharp enough), and I really liked that this pair has a guard so you won’t cut the quicks. In honor of self care day, I took all the dogs outside yesterday and trimmed all of their nails and even the one who is usually the worst about it (i.e., screaming like you’re killing him, which I usually want to do during nail trims) was okay about it, the drama was at a minimum (it normally takes two groomers to do his nails; he is a Chihuahua and NOT a big dog). Because of the drama, I usually wait as long as possible between trims, but this was fast and easy and now I’ll be trimming their nails all the time (you lucky dogs).

I am quite pleased with these clippers. I bought these to replace the clippers I had that were too dull after years of use. I was happy with the results. They fit nicely in my hand. They are sharp and strong enough to clip through my Labrador’s thick nails. I love the guard as I am no professional so it keeps me from cutting too far. The file works well too. My old boy doesn’t usually put up with me filing his nails but these clippers seem to have changed the game. The only reasI didn’t give the clippers 5 stars is because the file sometimes falls out.

Very easy to use. I have never ever cut dogs nails before! After reading reviews nail clippers, watching U-Tube videos, these seemed to stand out for ease, comfort and price! The instructions box, and watching the videos made this an easy task! I was so afraid I’d hurt my dog. So I took a deep breath, treats by my side, and did my first cut, per instruction. YES! The guard made it easy. It didn’t move as some reported. The nail can go but so far when placed correctly the guard! Duh! (Watch videos, or two, three, four) Of course my dog made it easy. He’s a husky-pit. Maybe it’s a trust thing. But thank you so much for this product! It helped my confidence tremendously. And extra change in my pocket. Some places charged $20! and my dog was always agitated and scared.

The nail clippers are actually pretty awesome – large rubberized ergonomic handles and sharp blade with safety stop makes quick work of my 140lb dog with ease – I’m giving this 23 stars only because I purchased this specific item because it included a FREE FILE to use the 3 smaller dogs I have for inclusivity – however – this was not the case. I was very disappointed to only receive the nail clippers – but the quality and design of this tool is certainly top notch! Excellent Buy – you simply can’t go wrongUPDATE – I was TOTALLY wrong in my assumptions, and the nail file WAS included – it is hidden in the bottom of the handle of the clippers themselves. I learned this as I sent the seller an email – they got back with me within 24 hours, and explained how this was a commmisunderstanding with this item – Excellent Product, Excellent Seller Response, and Excellent Experience – Well done this item guys – well done!

Overall i have found these to be a great value. The blades are super sharp, overall constructiis excellent. They are not heavy in hand, and dont have the most robust feel, but they are solid and well formed. The handles are comfortable, the blades well shaped and sharp, and the rotating nail guard is a nice touch as well. fold it away for long nails, or fold it in place to trip the tips. The included nail file is a nice touch, but not generally useful IMO. dollar store emery boards do a better job faster, however, it does make a great nail cleaner if you have dogs that dig. What really impressed me was just their ability to cut cleanly with out crushing. MY dog, a 115 black lab/newfie mix, has thick, brittle nails that are difficult to cut with out splintering. These did a very respectable job, i must say. There was a little splintering but only at the very end and it cleaned up with a nail board easily. aside from that, they cut right through with no issues. These clippers are a great bargain.

I was so nervous about cutting my terrier’s nails! I had to calm myself first, and make sure I was in a good, peaceful place. Then I played with her gently, rubbing her belly and giving her an occasional treat while I played with her paws. Even so, I only got her front two paws done in that sitting. I’ve seen videos that recommend you only try to do one nail per session, or one paw per session. I think those are excellent suggestions. With my golden doodle, she was so chill that we could do all of her paws at the same time, AND dremel the nails for smoothness. She would just calmly let us do whatever. Not my terrier. She is a nervous nellie. Forget dremeling! I’m going to have to try simple nail files. Once her nails are cut, it’s like they have two sharp cutting surfaces, and it HURTS when she jumps you!Anyway, these clippers are super easy to work with and I highly recommend.

The “stop” did not prevent cutting right through the “quik” with blood instantly leaking out as my Borzoi screamed. Instead of the silly nail file that can be pulled out of the handle there should be a styptic pencil. Something to stop bleeding would make a lot more sense.I returned these and ordered styptic powder from . Live and learn…

I’ve got a yorkie/fox terrier mix (14lbs). I’m legally blind and didn’t trust myself to cut her nails my own but after a few traumatic visits to the vet and groomer where she needed the noose and two people to hold her still AND they still cut her to the quick I decided to give it a try. After a few attempts where she would only allow me to clip a nail or two at a time, she has realized that I won’t cut her nails down too far and she sits still for me to get them all (while staring at her eventual treat). The guard is so very helpful and it doesn’t allow you to take off much at all. I cut a toothpick with them first to see how much it would take off with the guard in place. A literal shaving. My 13 year old pup doesn’t run and wear down her nails like she used to, they got pretty long over the winter. Grateful we have a stress free way to trim them down over time.

Worked well my chihuahua. It would be nice if the nail-stop has an adjustable depth like some other models, but it still worked fine. The dog told me he hated it and would have rated it a 1-star.

These have a guard that you can either use or move to the side. I love the guard because it prevents you from cutting too much nail off. My dogs have black nails and I cannot see the quick inside of them. These clippers are perfect for dogs with black nails because with the guard on, it only clips little by little.

I love the fact that it has the safe guard the back so that you can’t put the nail in to far, for first timers like me that was super great and the locking feature the side for storage is also great. Definitely a good purchase and will save me money and time in the future with trimming coco’s nails.

Our boxer/mastiff mutt is a beast when it comes to his mani/pedi time. We have gone through multiple nail clippers, some breaking the first use. These have handled his “footwork” with ease and are still whole. We’ve used them twice now without issue. Hoping they last for some time. These have a comfortable grip and sharp enough to handle his hefty size nails. I wasn’t sure about the safety guard, but it’s an absolutely wonderful feature. For the longer nails, it just takes two nips. Highly recommend.

Must read update..Not for large dogs, but worked really well my minatures. I Love them just need a bigger size…..UPDATE,.. ok I’m updating my review 4-8-18 These have a small switch buttI didn’t see so I must take back what I wrote when I first got these. Does work about any size dog, I just wasn’t using them properly!! Thanks for great product. Sry for my confusion

Loved these nail clippers. My dog is 17 years old, a border collie mix – and doesn’t like baths or grooming of any kind. So his nailshave gotten quite long. These helped me take his nails down a little at a time, with the guard protecting his nail so we didn’t cut too much off at once and it has worked wonderfully well. Best purchase for my dog ever!

I heard about these from GermanShepherdMan YouTube, and I had to buy them. I have struggled to find a quality pair of nail clippers that would actually go through any thickness of nail without a problem. These are awesome! I love the comfort handles. I really like how easily they clip the nails with little effort. The guard is great, except it is not a one size fits all. I, unfortunately, nipped the quick my Springer, but she has relatively short nails anyway, and now I know that her back feet tend to keep themselves. These are great for my GSD puppy and even my old terrier. I really like the file that comes with it because my older dog has a tendency to chew his nails, and so he has jagged edges that catch. These are high quality and the best clippers I have ever bought! The cost is even better!

These work so much better than I thought they would. I have to sedate my beagle, Dexter to clip his nails because it stresses him out. This took me about 10 minutes (and I’m always overly cautious) and was so easy he didn’t even mind that I was doing it! It didn’t take much force and it’s easier if you do keep the tool perpendicular to the nail-it will cut more evenly that way. My husband was happy that I bought these and he even told me so. That’s a win for everyone!

  18. Rated 5 out of 5

Great clipper. The nail guard gives me the extra help I need to feel safe that I won’t cut too far into the nail when my anxious 90+ pound hound acts up. When I first pulled the clipper out of the packaging the guard was pushed over to the side but I was able to move it with my fingers. I have used it twice now and the guard has not moved out of position.

  19. Rated 3 out of 5

These are so much better than my previous nail clipper. The are clip through much easier than my last pair and the guard helps make me feel safer.Update: These clippers are very powerful and sharp. However, after having used them several times, I am buying something else. These really don’t allow you to make smaller clips. I initially trusted the guard, but after a yelp from my dog…I do not anymore. The guard also makes it hard to do fine trimming: hard to see and hard to get it angled how you can with a “non-guarded” clipper.

I will admit I was afraid of using a nail clipper like this- my dog is not small but not large so I was worried this would be too big for her and that it would make clipping her nails more difficult/ potentially hurt her. However I found these clippers to be very sharp and it made clipping so easy. The guard prevents from over-clipping/nail damage and overall they are a good investment. The file isn’t much/not incredibly useful but I imagine if your dog’s nail size is larger they might be more effective.

I tried these my large American Bulldog and the nails split badly. It was just difficult to cut and took a lot of pressure. Tried them my medium sized mixed breed and they wouldn’t cut without using tons of pressure. So much so, that she seemed to freak out like “What is happening to my toe!” They seem very dull and the lock doesn’t work so they won’t lock closed.

Thought I was getting an upgrade to my $6 trimmers from the pet store and landed up not using them because they are bulky and hard to positiwhile cutting it feels like it’s crushing my dogs nails instead of cutting them.I ended up buying a new pair of $6 trimmers from the pet store and these are a dust collector.

I ordered these nail clippers for our dogs, liking that the handles are ergonomic. I didn’t have a need to use them until yesterday, and was appalled at how roughly they cut, as if they aren’t sharp enough. I have made the request to return them.

  24. Rated 5 out of 5

Very pleased with this purchase. These clippers are sharp and the part that sets them apart for me is the guard that keeps my wife and I from clipping our Australian Shepherd’s nails too short. The quick in his nails are almost impossible to see, due to the fact that they are multi-colored. Some are white and some are black which makes it hard to avoid the quick which the guard these clippers prevents. Well built and razor sharp clippers. Highly recommended.

  25. Rated 5 out of 5

Easy to use. I used them my pomeranian’s claws. They’re adjustable for bigger claws as well. I didnt care for the file but it does serve the purpose. Also the back guard the clippers can slide side to side a wee bit but I didn’t notice this till after I dropped it the hardwood so I may have accidentally made that happen.

I have had tried several kinds of nail clippers for dogs. I have a Chocolate Lab with thick, strong black nails and an Am Staff with overgrown nails from her previous life that I’ve needed to trim weekly so that the quick shortened and her nails didn’t click the floor. Quite frankly, this clipper is the bomb. It’s as sharp as it’s purported to be and easy to hold. It sliced through Finn’s nails as if they were butter- quickly and cleanly with no splintering. I was ed and thrilled. Highly recommend. I was done with 20 nails in no time flat and for the first time, didn’t need to file because of splintering. Excellent clipper.

We have an English bulldog who is very strong and hates the Dremel. His nails are super thick and black with difficult or impossible to see nail quick. Although he doesn’t love getting his nails clipped with this device either, he did so much better with it. It was fast and the safety guard helped with all his twitching not to over-cut. Overall he did much better with it than with the Dremel. I’m sure if we do it more often him he’s going to do fine with a nail clipping sessions. It cuts really well through his extremely thick nails. So glad we got these, next step was going to be to have to take him to a groomer for nail care. Thank you

Good product. Works well our 60-lb mix. The key is to always use the safety guard. When we use that we never get bleeding. Some people say, But what if you want to trim more off the nail? Then you may have gone too long between nail trims! (we have certainly done this!!!) Trim again if necessary, but make absolutely certain not to cut the quick! It’s much easier and safer just to cut all the nails with the safety guard in place, then cut them again in a couple months. This also works reasonably well our 20-lb guy, but don’t purchase this product if you only have a small dog. Get a smaller clipper instead.

It has a built in guard that helps prevent taking off too much. I watched a couple of You Tube videos to help me feel more comfortable, then got started. I did buy some styptic powder just in case I got too close, and had it ready a Q tip. We have two labradors, a yellow and a black. My husband held the dogs and soothed them as I worked their paws. The yellow lab, we were able to clip all 16 nails plus two dewclaws without a problem. The black lab was a little more difficult, not only was it difficult to see the quick, but she is a lot more active so her claws needed very little trimming. Still, I was able to do both dewclaws, and 7 out of 8 toes without a problem . one back paw I did go down to the quick, so there was bleeding. Even after applying the styptic powder there was a little bleeding, but it contained benzocaine to numb it and she did not appear to be hurting. All in all, I am very satisfied with this product.

I use these a German Shepherd and Border Collie. It works both of them with little struggle. As they are getting more confident I’m not going to hurt them. It is getting easier and easier to use them. I have found using it more often and taking off less of the nail tip has been working vs trying to cut them down. The guard has really helped give confidence that I won’t over cut by accident especially the German Shepherd, I do have to be more cautious with the Border Collie with over cutting but the guard avoids any major over cut.

I can finally trim her nails my own! My grip strength is not so great but i can trim her nails no problem with this. Love the guard. Increases my confidence that i wont hurt her. Comes with a small file to tidy up snags too. We both approve. Will definetly recommend this to all my dog friends.

These clippers helped me not completely and totally injure my dog. I have never clipped his nails before, but it was getting out of hand and his nails were twisting to the side and i worried about him being in pain. I like the clip guard them! Watch for nails sliding between the shears and the clip guard, thats the only annoying part. When I inevitably cut my dogs quick (i felt really terrible) it was a SHALLOW cut because of the clip guard! I like this product! and I only made 1 mistake! Great for humans who need to learn how to properly clip nails and great for doggies because they dont get hurt as much by their bumbling owners. smh. I would recommend this!

These clippers claim to have a guard but when we were cutting our dog’s nails, she yelped after a few and her nail started bleeding profusely. After stopping to look, two other nails had been cut at the quick and were bleeding. We were unable to get it to stop and had to take her to the vet! If we didn’t think the guard would work, we would’ve treated it like regular clippers!

I have three small dogs. I tiny pom, toy poodle, and a small chihuahua. I have hesitated clipping their nails before worrying about cutting too deep into their veins. So I’ve had to wait to have the vet/groomer do them. Their nails would grow so fast and curl over which I’m sure was painful for them and made it difficult for them walking our hard wood floors. These clippers work great as they safely have a guide to prevent cutting too short. Easy my arthritic hands too. Would highly recommend them.

  35. Rated 5 out of 5

Absolutely the best clippers I’ve tried. I have a 86lb pitt/dane that does NOT like to have his nails clipped. Before when I tried to cut his super thick nails it was almost impossible to do a clip with just one squeeze of the clippers. They never quite made it thru and resulted in pulling the nail and distress for my dog (aka pulling away / squirming all over the floor and in general being a big baby). These cut right through first time. Clean and quick. My dog was as surprised as I was I think because we didn’t end up with the hand to hand tug of war. Highly recommend for people with bigger dogs with tougher nails

Trimming my dogs nails has always been a chore. She hates it. The clippers would make a lot of noise or get stuck when squeezed. I searched for a pair and found these. Wow, they are quiet when cutting and give a smooth cut. They also have a guard built in so you don’t take to much off at one time and a nail file that stores right in the handle. My dog no longer runs when she sees my going for the clippers. Best clippers I have ever owned!

  37. Rated 5 out of 5

These are ing. Clean cuts, not getting stuck, and the guard is a lifesaver. I have a chihuahua that turns into Cujo when you try and cut his nails. He needs serious restraint and pet stores often won’t do it because he becomes psychotic. I am sick of scheduling vet appointments for something so minor. He still puts up a fight but at least I can do it in half the time and without fear of cutting too short. Sometimes I will sneak in one or two a day, but with these I can swing all feet with a pig ear or some seriously chewy cookie.I have tried many cutters and they are subpar compared to these. HIGHLY recommend!

I was skeptical about cutting my dogs nails before, after hearing stories of cutting too far and cutting the quick. I didn’t realize nail clippers came with a guard to keep you from cutting too much. These were easy to use. Dog wasn’t too fond of it, but he had some hot dogs and was fine. Large Labrador, these nail clippers easily cut the nail. Didn’t notice, but also comes with a nail file, though I don’t think my dog would have sat long enough for me to use the nail file.

I have a neurological disorder, so the grip in my hands is getting a little iffy. For the most part, I’m fine, but it’s gotten increasingly hard to clip my dogs nails with the guillotine-like dog clippers. I bought this, praying it would work better, and oh my god, it is great. Part of the struggle was always holding my dogs paw in a way for the guillotine to line up correctly, and worrying about cutting too far.The way this is designed, the guard makes sure you don’t clip to far, and the style of the clipper makes it easy to clip at any angle. I can easily grab my dogs front paws and quickly clip them, and the back ones I can do with him still standing them, so there is no awkward trying to pull his back leg up and him looking at me like I’m a psychopath.Basically, this is the best tool to clip your dogs nails easily, efficiently, and safely.

I really really want to rate this 5 stars because it cuts my dog’s nails so easily. The reasI can’t rate it 5 stars is because I think I got a defective one. The buttto keep it locked in the close positiwhen you aren’t using it doesn’t work mine. I close the clippers, push the buttup, and then as soas I let go it immediately pops back open (even if I hold the buttin the up locked position.) And the file mine also doesn’t stay in the slot at all so it’s constantly falling out. Those two things are disappointing so I have to rate it 4 stars. However, to the actual clipper part, it really is worth 5 stars there. I had an old clipper for years and I guess I didn’t realize how horrible and difficult they were to use. I have an 80 pound German Shepherd mix so he has some pretty sturdy toenails. Using the old clipper I would have to really struggle to get it to cut through his nails. It also wouldn’t cut them clean most of the time. Toenail trimming time was an unpleasant situatifor all of us. With these clippers, they cut through his nails so quickly and effortlessly! And I’m causing him less discomfort because it cuts them off cleanly, not breaking them and nicking his quick or something like that. Other than the two issues mine I would really recommend these clippers.

These are great. Very sturdy and cuts through thick nails like a hot knife through butter. I bought these and the Safari Professional. These are better for medium to large dogs. These clippers are big compared to the Safari; so I’ll use these my big dog and the Safari my small dogs. I prefer these over the Safari though. The Boshel seems to have a little better build quality than the Safari. This was a fantastic deal ; our local store had other brands that did not seem as nice for three times the price. If you have a medium to large dog; buy these!

Love the Boshel nail clippers. Never clipped dog’s nails before, but he was willing to let me try. I did them very slowly at first, and only cut a little off at a time. Clippers are easy to use, even for a novice. Also watched a UTube vid how to do it, and that helped too.

Very sharp and easy to use. I went online and watched several different videos how to clip dogs’ nails. I was a little hesitatnt but watching the videos taught me how to avoid nipping the nail’s quick and I started slowly. Have used several time now and am gaining confidence, which is making it easier for my dogs to submit to this. It’s worked out really well and I also bought the Wahl Professional Grooming Kit which teaches how to groom the dog’s fur. I will save a lot of money professional grooming!

My pup is really comfortable with me cutting his nails, that being said, he has clear nails so it is easy for me to see his veins so i know where to stop. These clippers have a guard them which only lets you cut a bit at a time – you can remove this guard if you know what you are doing and cut as long a chunk as you’d like. For me, dealing with a clear nail, i was able to remove the guard to its side so i could cut quicker and more efficiently and so my pup would get irritated with the whole situation. Other reviewers here gave negative reviews because they didnt know what they were doing! Simply stated, if your dog doesnt have clear nails and its hard to see the blood veins, then start off by clipping really really small lengths at a time. You can ask any vet that. The clipper itself is made very very durable and the metal is strong and sturdy.Dont give bad ratings to a product because you dont know how to use it! It worked perfect for us!

I’ve never cut my dogs nails before, and these clippers made it easy. While my dog certainly does not like her nails being cut, I’ve never yet messed up with these. The packaging suggests using baby oil the nails first. It says it helps you see the quick, but I’ve discovered that while it does make the nail more slippery, it leaves the nail much smoother at the end. The attached nail file is very useful and convenient and makes it difficult to lose it. The only complaint is that sometimes they don’t cut the first time and it makes me add a bit more pressure the nail than my dog appreciates.

This is a Grade A quality set of clippers! Being too nervous to attempt it my own I went to my local petco and asked an employee to show me exactly how it’s done. The guard is very helpful to make sure you don’t cut into your pets quick (vein). I was told to do it little by little and wait 2-3 weeks between cuts so that the vein can recede before cutting it again. If your dog has black nails you have to be especially careful as you can’t often see the vein. Once you make the first cut you should be able to see a link or black small circle in the center of the nail when looking at it head on, that’ll give you a better idea of how much father you should or shouldn’t cut. I would go to your local pet store and ask for a hands tutorial so you can feel safe cutting your pets nails 🙂

So thrilled that I gave this a chance.Rheumatoid Arthritis makes a lot of things difficult for me and my poor pooches claws were getting ridiculous. I just didn’t have the strength or agility to wrangle the standard-style clippers but these were a breeze. Now we only got one paw done today, but I did it easily and in just a few minutes! I will work her more tonight and in the next few days and fully expect to get her toes under control in no time. Best doggie purchase ever.

We have 3 dogs, 2 of which are large breed and 1 is a 4month old (but he is already pushing 50lbs). I bought these clippers to get our puppy used to having his nails done and to also clip the other 2 dogs nails. 1 of them HATES even having her feet touched but she did very well when I used them her! She’s been clipped too short too many times (crappy groomer) and these worked great! I even clipped our older Pyrenees’ nails, which never need to be cut as she is outside 24/7 and they cut through her tough nails so smoothly! When/if these clippers break or get dull, I am definitely buying another pair!

These are good clippers, but my dog hates them. He just hates having his nails trimmed. I’m not sure if it’s the squeeze that bothers him or the process. With that aside these are nice clippers. I never use the guide as often I need to cut less than that. Also the nail file falls out a lot, which can be annoying, but I’ve just started taking it out before I use them so I don’t drop and lose it.

Five stars because these are exactly as described and work well, and we like the guard. However, it is important to note that clipping nails is not as easy as it looks in the YouTube videos. It takes both my husband & I do hold down our 14# Maltipoo and we do more “shaving” than “clipping” so it is a slow process. However, we like having these because we can trim her nails between grooming visits at home.

I have 3 German Shepherds all way too spoiled, normally I leave the nail clipping to the Vet. But nooo that’s too much drama for my dogs so push came to shove and I ordered these clippers a wing and a prayer. Before I even touched Kato he was his back crying the blues like I was torturing him, of course now the other two are coming to his “rescue” barking at me as if to say “Mom stop hurting our brother”…I’m at this point doing “dealer hands” showing them I haven’t even touched him yet. The laughing and eye rolls were off the charts. Seriously this dog needs to be Broadway! I waited until he tired himself out and then while petting him with one hand clipped all the nails both front paws before he even noticed! I was stunned…inside I was doing the happy happy hippy dance and {literally kissed these clippers} All 12 paws were clipped that day with no bloodshed, not even one legit whimper. (tons of fake ones though) I would highly recommend these especially for dogs like mine that wont sit still for a second and behave like little drama queens.

Sharp and effective. Used it my shih tzu. Watched a lot of diff videos tips and then used it. Started by trimming a bit off each time. Dont get overexcited to use the clipper. If you havent clipped your dogs nails in a while, start by clipping just a bit off. Then repeat in a week if needed. It was my first time clipping my dogs nails and although I did great, I did get too close to the quick n he snapped. Luckily no blood since I was only clipping a bit off.Totally worth the price, considering the salcharges $25 for nail clipping and half the time, they just file em anyway.Great product.

These work very well. We were extremely nervous having no experience. Our dog is medium sized- about 40 lbs. and she has decent sized paws, nails. I recommend these. We bought the styptic powder in case, which I also recommend, but we haven’t needed it. We had bought the dremel tool first because we were so afraid of hurting the dog, but the dremel really doesn’t take a lot off. However, it is really nice to have the dremel after clipping to smooth things out.

Unlike majority of the one-year reviews, my clippers were super sharp and cut well. However, I used the guard and the first nail I clipped bled profusely for hours. My dog is about 60 pounds, so by no means is she too small. Needless to say, I won’t be using them any longer.Maybe if the guard was adjustable for different dogs? I’m not sure. It was just a disaster.

After reading the reviews I decided to purchase these clippers for my lab. I was so excited to receive these today as his old clippers were at the end of their rope ‘ he’s due for a trim. My excitement is gone. I clipped 2 of his nails and that was it. The clippers are so dull all that’s happening is nail splitting. I thought the included file was a nice touch but again, I was wrong. The file wouldn’t even stay in place in the handle, it kept sliding out. These were a waste of money as now I have to buy another brand to clip his nails.

Works great, but I did cut one nail(actually, the second one I cut!) too close, so, we stopped there and I’m looking forward to cutting my Chihuahua’s third nail in the future. He’s suspicious of a lot of things when it comes to obeying the command “come” when it’s given by me- gonna get a bath? gonna check for fleas? gonna spray me with the Flea and Tick spray bottle? gonna check my ears? gonna check my teeth? gonna show me where I peed? etc.- needless to say- He’s having trouble with the “come here” command.

I expected better from “the #1 rated” nail clipper. This might be the worse clipper I have ever used.Lets start with the locking mechanism. It is extremely tight but yet feels very weak. Getting it to unlock is a task in itself.Next using the clippers. I don’t know if it is part of the design, but they clipper is extremely tight and takes a lot of force to close the clippers. Then when you release pressure it stays in place and you have to pull them apart. This might not be a big deal if your dog is passed out xanax, but for a dog that doesn’t like their nails clipped, it made a difficult task nearly impossible.

These clippers are very easy to use & have saved us a lot of time & (nervous) energy that would have been otherwise spent at the vet’s office getting our dogs’ nails clipped. The file is convenient in that it stores right inside the clippers, but I do wish it worked a little better since it doesn’t file as easily as I would like it to& as a result we often have the dogs’ nails in-filed after trimming them bc it would require so much extra time to file them smoother.

This is one of those items that should work right out of the box, without any issues, but it’s hard to believe that they messed up something so basic and simple. The cutter is dull out of the box, which pretty much renders it useless. If you have a big dog with thick nails, look elsewhere for a better cutter, because you will not only be frustrated at the poor execution, but also freaking out if you accidentally snap the nail too much and cause a bleeding.

I ordered these to attempt to do my dogs nails myself, after attempts done by 2 other places failed (one place had to muzzle her to get them done). I was very nervous since I’ve never clipped dog nails (only cats), and she has black nails so you can’t see the quick.I used a lot of treats and she only squirmed once. I was able to do her nails, and most importantly I got to do her double dew claws which were so long because they don’t get used like the other toes. I feel much better now and have more confidence that I can do them going forward. The safety is a LIFE SAVER for me, I wouldn’t have been able to do her nails without that!

I have a very large Shiloh Shepherd – HUGE FEET and THICK NAILS! These work great for keeping his nails trimmed and neat! I did watch the videos how to clip the nails and would certainly recommend spending a few minutes doing this before using the first time. I’m impressed with this product.

Not sharp. Quite big. The lock broke after first use. The nail file is useless. Very poorly made, no means professional. Threw it away after the second use cause it wasn’t cutting the nail, just hurting them. Got some sharper ones.

I am a first time user. It took me a month to work up the courage to do it.These clippers worked beautifully. If you are a first timer like me, watch some You Tube videos it will help and you can feel confident you have good clippers with these.I was so relieved. My dog has those black nails that added to my fear. She was an angel for me.Her nails were so long. I took the tips off. They are still a little long, I am waiting a week or so then will take off a bit more.

These clippers are very, very sturdy and easy to use. The gauge gives you some comfort that you will not hurt your pet. Normally, cutting my Golden Retriever puppy’s nails are a tough task between inferior clippers that don’t always cut the first time and….well, a puppy, it takes a while. Using the Boshel clippers was much easier. The built in file does come in handy although I don’t think my dog loved the sensatiso much as he kept pulling away. The file is needed though as one thing I notice is the clippers leave his nails not pointy like they are when they’re overgrown, but sharp in a rough kind of way.

I love this dog nail clipper, it’s the best I’ve ever used! It actually cuts the dog’s nails, as opposed to crushing & splintering them like all other clippers I’ve used in the past. The blade is nice & sharp; there’s no splinters or longer pieces left behind & it gives the nail a nice, clean cut. The guard is super helpful, too, to make sure the nail isn’t cut too short. All in all this is definitely a great product, one I’d highly recommend!

We recently adopted a dog and knew we would need to trim her nails a regular basis. Most of her nails are very dark, so it is hard or impossible to see the quick. I ordered these because of the good reviews and for the guard. I haven’t used them myself, but my husband has twice. He seems to have no issues at all with them. He did cut close to the quick once, but that is totally our fault. We trimmed them a little sooner than they needed trimming. The guard, in that aspect, doesn’t prevent the ouchy.

I bought these as a flash deal and thought what did I have to loose. They are way nicer than I thought they would be. Their regular price is $22. and worth every penny for that so my deal was even better. My 9 year old dog has never allowed us to clip her nails and we had to take her to the vet. So far I have clipped a nail each day for 4 days. The guard is sure fired protectiand I know it’s not hurting her and this way I’m getting her used to me doing a nail at a time. I hope to work up to all four paws. The quality of these clippers is really nice. They arrived super fast.

These are the best clippers I have ever used! They are very sharp and the cut is clean. I love the guard as it makes it almost impossible to cut the quick. Anyone who has cut the quick a dog’s nail knows how profusely it bleeds. The dog is now afraid of having their nails clipped. It hurts and they pick up your anxiety immediately….and, well, it can be a nightmare. Cutting the nails without a guard is a guarantee that no matter how experienced you are, the dog will move suddenly and you will have cut the quick.

I have been trimming my dogs nails since she was a puppy … 6 years. The first time I used these nail clippers they were VERY dull and hurt my dog. I didn’t even finish clipping all her nails. I do not recommend these!!!

These nail clippers are comfortable to hold, not awkward at all like many can be, however, they are not as sharp as needed to be. The clippers begin crushing the nail before actually clipping it..

These nail clippers crush the nail, rather than cut them, which is more painful for the pet. The guard and lock fall closed during the trim and get in the way.

We bought these nail trimmers for my very nervous, split prone jack, Lilly. We have tried everything. We’ve tried dozens of nail clippers (these would split her nails and often would not cut all the way through the first time) , a dremel (very noisy and stressful for LilIy), more frequent walks the pavement, and groomers (expensive and her nails would still get split). These are the only clippers that I have found that cuts through the nail without effort and does not split her nails. The nail guard is very convenient and I don’t have to worry so much about cutting her quick. Her nails are very long now so I’m following the instructions and cutting just a little bit off each week to let the quick recede.I am very happy with this purchase. It has certainly made my life easier and Lilly doesn’t seem to mind getting her nails clipped as much the process is now much smoother and painless.

Before I bought these clippers, I was trying to trim my 2 yr. old BostTerrier’s nails with an old pair of clippers that I’ve had for many years. She doesn’t like to have her nails cut and has trouble sitting still, so I was very afraid of cutting into the quick. So, consequently, I was taking her to the vet’s every six weeks and paying to have it done. With these new Boshel clippers, I am able to clip her nails quickly and without fear of hurting her. I like the design. They are easy to hold onto, and I really like the fact that they have a guard that you can set to keep you from cutting too much. The cost of the clippers was less than one nail trim! I am very satisfied with this purchase.

I mistakenly bought two different nail clippers while comparing different brands in my cart. I’ve come to the conclusithey’re all the same thing so don’t think too hard it. I passed a dremmel because I was afraid it might be too intense or ticklish for my dog. I don’t think it’s necessary anymore.I got my dog when he was about nine years old so he should be 11 by now. He is a black Labrador with thick black toenails. I recently noticed he was having trouble getting up the hardwood floor. I must admit we sort of skipped the puppy part of the manual- the part that mentions that you’re supposed to clip their nails every 1 to 2 weeks. So I laid him in the tub the bath mat. I watched a couple more YouTube videos which really helped with my confidence. the first naiI I decided the guard was useless and moved it up so I could see better. Taking off literally shavings at a time, I got past the crumbly part to a dark center. When I start to pinch and see the nail give a little I immediately let go and that’s where I’d stop. Out of all ten toes I only got the very tip of a quick. No blood, but I could see a pin size spot of liquid. To finish I clipped off a little layer of the thick top side which rounds it out and supposedly helps the quick recede. To first timers from a first timer, the key is to just go little by little. It took me over half an hour. I had it easy though because my dog is old and just laid there the whole time. For as long as I’ve known him his nails hit the floor. Now he is so “stealthy” and I love the sound of his pads the floor. He now has more tractito help him get up. I highly recommend this product! And here of course is an obligatory photo of the old man with his new pedi.. which he’d like me to stop touching now.

I kept buying the same cheap toe nail clipper at the drugstore chain and they kept breaking. I figured with the money I’d spent I’d bought an expensive one several times over so I might as well spend more and be done with it. I’ve done a couple of clippings now my 15-year-old Golden Retriever with this Boshel. It seems very sturdy. Sure, it doesn’t have one of those plastic nail catcher things but what’s most important to me is if the clipper makes a nice, decisive cut and this one does.

I’m really pleased with these professional grade nail clippers. One of our dogs has black nails so the guard these clippers helps me avoid cutting the quick. They trim cleanly, I had some that cost more than these that I bought at a pet store that crushed the nail rather than cleanly cutting and left jagged sharp edges that had to be filed, which my dog hated. Great product at a great price.

I have an 80lb sharpei-shepherd that is very sensitive about his paws. I got these hoping I could cut his nails because the past 2 groomers couldn’t get him to cooperate. I was able to use these and cut his nails in 5 min. The guard made sure I didn’t get too much nail or cut his quick, and the blades cut his nail easily making it easy to keep him calm. Very pleased.

These are a far cry from the flimsy clippers of the past. Super sharp, seems sturdy and well made. While large, for a large dog, they also still fit my smaller hands and were padded so I was able to clip my dog’s nails pretty easily. The only downside was the attached little file that is supposed to slip into the handle and stay there…it would not stay at all. As the files was unimportantto me, as I rub down any rough edges with a big black emery board, I was not upset. Overall, very good clippers, with a removeable limiter so that even a novice can safely clip big dog nails.

These are very well made and perform like they should…….but be careful! They are very sharp and the first time I tried them my dog, I cut too much and hit the quick one of his nails. That was a surprise as I assumed the guard would prevent cutting that close and it didn’t. I will have to be more diligent next time. My poor little dog suffered for it and I felt terrible.

Works great and comes with clear instructions. I’m doing teensy little snips each week so that the quick shortens as my doggies’ nails do too.Could be a tiny bit sharper because I find I have to apply a lot of pressure to make a snip, which makes my dogs nervous… But it’s honestly probably safer for it to be a little less sharp.

Well made clippers and sharp too. Only reasfor the four star is they are larger and I have toy breed dogs. Wish they came in a smaller version. I use them but it isn’t quite the size that makes clipping easy for the smaller breeds.

I have four Boxers who HATE having their nails done, despite it being a regular task. Two of them have to go to the groomer because it’s just too much work to try and get them to settle down. One of my dogs doesn’t like the groomer so I have tried multiple clippers and a Dremel. He won’t stand for it!I bought this based reviews and color me impressed! My dog is napping and I am cutting his nails! It’s so quick, painless, and quiet he doesn’t even know.Excellent excellent product!!! Thank you!!!!!

Don’t put off this chore like I did. Long walks used to keep his nails under control but as he has gotten older and the weather has gotten hotter, I wasn’t paying attention. I replaced the carpet in the living room with wooden floors and suddenly my golden became a doggie versiof tap dancing Danny Kaye. I felt horrible but was afraid. It even took me a few days after I got these clippers to get over my fear of using them. They worked like a charm. The gap stop is so helpful and my guy did not complain even once Now we’re shortening the nails over a few weeks time to give the quick time to recede each time. They are very sharp and easy to grip.

I am beyond pleased that the product as advertised performed just so! I purchased these for my elderly Cane Corso rescue who growls and snaps at anything that comes near his overgrown nails. To make a quick route at each nail, I needed sharp, accurate nail clippers that would tackle the variable lengths and thickness of neglect due to sensitivity and apparent traumatic clippings in his past. Viola! The perfect tool! It comes with my highest praise and recommendations as the only other optiavailable was the vet.

We purchased these clippers not knowing what to expect, but the other reviews were great so why not! We have a very small dog and worried these wouldn’t provide the security of not cutting too short. We LOVE these clippers. The backing provides the ability to clip in small increments to keep our pups nails safe and healthy. Worth more than twice the price!

I have bought clippers in the past and have been mortified that I would cut into my dogs vein. These have a guard that only allows a small portito be clipped. I looked at each nail, knew that the vein was way off and clipped with confidence.I think negative reviews have been doing it wrong see photo.

The best indeed! Nice and sharp, so even a beginner can cut their dog’s claws. You cannot over cut either! You will save money taking your dog to the groomers or vet’s for clippings.
